How to Reserve a Slot Machine

Slot Machines

So you're playing a slot machine, and you need a break. Maybe you want to go to the restroom (and if you've been sipping on those free drinks, this is pretty likely), or maybe you want a snack or just some fresh air. You may not know this, but you can actually reserve the slot machine at which you're playing. Here's how.

Find a change person. Ask them politely if they'll keep an eye on your machine for you while you make a quick trip to the ladies' room, or the snack bar, or outside. When you get back, be sure to give the slot machine change person a tip - anywhere from $1 to $5 should be appropriate, based on what stakes machine you're playing. Obviously if you're playing a high stakes slot machine, you should be willing to tip a little bit more.

Depending on the casino, and depending on their traffic that night, you might even be able to get the casino to close the machine down completely for a longer trip away, like if you're going to have dinner. But keep in mind this has a lot to do with how busy the casino is. It's easier to get away with asking a casino to hold a slot machine for you on a weeknight in December when Vegas is slow, than on a Friday or Saturday night during peak gambling season.

And that's how to reserve a slot machine.
