Pennsylvania Slot Machine ChallengesThe Pennsylvania gaming has awarded all the slot machines licenses in the state, and already many slot machine casinos have begun operations. But now those companies that did not win slots licenses have the right to appeal the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s decisions. And it is no surprise to many on the board that Philadelphia is one of the contested areas. When the Board was making it’s decisions, Philadelphia was one of the most sought after cities, and many companies were vying for the city’s slot machines license—and now that only a couple companies won the slot machines licenses; the others have something to say about it. But these companies have to act fast as there is only a 30 day window of opportunity to contest the Board’s decisions, and then they become final, and no other companies will have a shot at the slot machines licenses. Right now the major fight comes down to who has the better legal team. Those companies who retain the slot machines licenses know that they will have to fight to keep them from the losing companies that are already assembling top-of-the-line legal teams for the impending legal slot machines battle. The major slot machines casinos though, Foxwoods and SugarHouse believe that they are definitely ready to fend of any challenges to the Gaming Board’s original decisions.
