Wynn Dealers Still Best Paid

A few months ago Wynn Las Vegas announced that their dealers would now be sharing their tips. This came as a surprise for many as Wynn’s dealers were known to be the best paid dealers in the industry. They wanted their dealers to share their tips with their supervisors as people did not want to become supervisors and lose out on the money they made from their tips.

However, months later, Wynn dealers are still the best paid in the business, and people are now volunteering to become supervisors. Steve Wynn, head of Wynn Las Vegas, said that it was working out exactly as they had hoped it would. He said the restructurization was to give better service to their customers, and that has worked out very well for them – and he was proud of the fact that his dealers still made more money than everyone else out there.

He says that even though the tip pool lessened at first, the amount of customers that have come in has increased – thereby increasing the amount of tips. He said they haven’t lost a single dealer over it, and in fact their dealers made the same amount this past February as they did February of last year. He said that he had estimated that the dealers would lose somewhere around 10% of their income with the new system, but it has turned out to be even less than that.

He said dealers were making around $100,000 a year, with floormen, boxmen, and pit supers making around $60,000. After the changes, he thought dealers would lose roughly $10,000, but they ended up losing less than that. Other employees got bumps in their salaries so that they were now making up to $92,000 a year.
