Deadline ApproachingThe deadline is quickly approaching for bids for the slot machines that will soon be a part of New York racing. The state has given any one who is interested in bidding on the slot machines at the tracks until April 25th to submit a final proposal. There are several companies already in the running to take over the slot machine franchise. Capital Play, Delaware North and S.L. Green are all poised to take over the franchise as soon as they are given the go-ahead. According to Paul Francis, the State Operations Director, the state is simply waiting for final proposals in order to make their decision. Whoever gets the contract will run the slot machines while the New York Racing Association will run the tracks. The plan also calls for Aqueduct to get a $250 million expansion, which they will pay back. The state will sell some of their debt to finance the expansion.
