How Does Betting Work with RNGs?

Some people think that if you spend the max wager that you will have a better chance at winning then if you don’t. Others think the opposite, and thus will play minimums hoping to get at least a smaller jackpot. In both cases, they would be incorrect.

The amount you bet has no bearing on the way the slot machine runs. Each slot machine has a Random Number Generator. The RNG decides if you are going to win or not, not the amount that you bet. Whether you play max, minimum, or somewhere in between – the RNG will decide if you are meant to win or not.

This is the same whether it is a slot machine, a video poker machine, etc. Any kind of electronic gambling machine that uses a RNG will only be determined by that and nothing else. The RNG doesn’t know how much you have bet – it simply determines whether or not you will win anything.

The RNG spins at millions of combinations a second. The only thing that will determine whether or not you will have a win is you. Whenever you push that button or pull the handle, the second that you do that – the combination that is in the RNG at that specific time is the one that you are going to get – and only you have control over that.
