Two More Compacts Signed

According to the San Francisco Sentinel, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed two more slot machine compacts with tribes in the state. The Governor has signed them with the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians and the Wiyot Tribe.

The slot machine compacts give both tribes exactly what they want, and with their high numbers of population it ends up being one of the largest tribal compacts in as far as sheer numbers of tribe members. The slot machine compacts end up benefiting a very large portion of the Indian population.

The Wiyot tribe will get slot machine revenue payments from the other tribe instead of operating a separate casino on their property. They will also give no more than 50% of their portion of the revenue to their tribal members, thus leaving the other 50% to fund tribal government operations.

This money can be used to develop the tribe and its economic development as well as donating to other charities. The North Fork slot machine compact would let them operate a gaming facility on their land, and give them 2,500 slot machines. However, during the terms of the compact the tribe cannot operate any other gaming facilities on their land in the state.
