Increase in Interest?

With all of the reports of slot machine overload, you would think that lawmakers would be cutting back on the amount of slot machines that they try to bring into their states. However, it appears that this is exactly the opposite of what is happening. Instead, experts are finding that there are more legislators looking to add more slot machines.

Last year there was a report that said that at some point there would be more slot machines than residents if the states continued on the expanded gambling binge that they have been on. This seems to be the case, especially in places like the northeast where it would appear that they are reaching the point of saturation with the number of slot machines that are being approved. There are some states like Pennsylvania that have already brought in more slot machines than they could possibly have a use for, and yet are still looking for more ways to increase their numbers.

Many of these states need to look at places like Atlantic City who thought that they had it all and were bringing in millions in slot revenue which they then used to support various programs that were needed. However, with more slot machines coming in across state lines, they have less income coming in and are now trying to figure out where to get more money from.

Each of the states are basing their figures on outdated principles, and not looking at what happens when everyone has a slot machine to play. They are not considering the ramifications of excess gambling on their residents either. Eventually, if things continue the way they have been, not only will you not have enough money to go around, but you will be left with a plethora of slot machine addicts and no money to get them treatment.
