Missouri Says No to Slot Machines The Missouri House of Representatives says that slot machines are not a good idea on a personal level. They were faced with a bill that would have let people keep slot machines in their homes so that they could play them, but the House said that this was not a good idea. Not only did they not think it was a good idea they thought that it was a bad idea by a very large margin. Sure enough Republican Mark Parkinson of St. Charles was acting on behalf of his constituents who said that they would like to be able to have slot machines in their homes. They said that in the privacy of their own homes they would like to be able to enjoy slot machines and not worry about losing the shirts off of their backs. However, the vote came down 139-16 against the measure. They said that they were not comfortable with allowing slot machine gambling in the state and therefore needed to keep them illegal. Parkinson’s bill said that slot machines would still be illegal in any other manner. The bill said that the slot machines would be used for entertainment purposes and that they could not use them to have basically their neighbors come over and gamble.
Currently the law says that you can have a slot machine in your
residence if it is more than 30 years old and it is not used for
gambling. The House says that there is nothing wrong with this
law and that it needs to stay as it is.
