Alabama Slot Machine Issue Heating Up More

It would appear that bingo is not what it would appear in the state of Alabama. There have been numerous reports regarding the fight going on between the Governor and the State’s Attorney General, where the former wants all slot machines eliminated as they are legal, and the AG has been throwing up roadblocks in his way. The AG is pushing for the slot machines to be legalized, and many say that this is because he is allegedly backed by the casinos and their contributions to his campaigns.

Well, it would appear that there is a little more to the story than just two men fighting over whether or not slot machines should be legal. The Department of Justice is now investigating the shenanigans that have been going on as they say that this fight to legalize slot machines in the state has “substantial evidence of corruption” and they were now getting involved in the fight. Many thought that this might be a ploy by those that were trying to keep the slot machines illegal, but the DOJ assured them that this was not.

It is no longer about the slot machines and the bickering that is going on, it is now about the fact that there is a federal criminal investigation going on in the state. There have been reports of lawmakers wearing wires for the feds, and this has many lawmakers concerned to say the least. With the vote about to come up in the House as to whether or not slot machines are made legal, there are many that are worried about voting for it thus they become part of the investigation. Even those that felt that the investigation could not come at a worse time say that the US government is not taking sides in the issue, which means that there really is something to it.
