New Hampshire is Split on Slot Machine Expansion

The state of New Hampshire is trying to get more slot machines approved in their casinos – and to add additional locations. They have some residents and representatives that are very much in favor of the additional slot machines, while there are others that could not be more set against them. The state has been very divided over the addition, even coming down to the individual counties and cities. Portsmouth and Newington are simply one of those areas that cannot seem to agree on whether slot machines are a good idea or not, which is making it tough for the bill to get some traction.

Some of the representatives are definitely for it, while others are dead set against making this a reality. In Portsmouth, one delegation that is completely made up of Democrats says that they are completely ready for the expansion of the slot machines. However, the opposing force is headed up by House Speaker Terie Norelli says that the addition of slot machines to the race tracks, etc. would be a bad move and that it cannot be permitted.

With legislatures being divided, the bill – Senate Bill 489 – is now coming up for discussion on the House floor and many say that it is bound to be a hot one. The bill would allow an additional 17,000 slot machines to come into the state, at six different locations. This would understandably increase the presence of the slot machines in the state, something which many of them are not happy about.
