Boyd Buys Dania

Dania Jai Alai has been sold to Boyd Gaming in a surprise move. They were owned by The Aragon Group, and although the deal still needs to go through regulatory channels, it looks like it is a done deal. The purchase price was $152.5 million - and Boyd really thinks they got the best end of it.

They are planning on converting the pari-mutual into a slot machine and table gambling parlor. They are going to redo the entire building, making it much more up to date as well as adding slot machines, a poker room, restaurants, and entertainment venues. It will not be open until next year due to all the changes that Boyd is planning on making, but when it is done they think it will be spectacular.

Rob Stillwell, spokesperson for Boyd Gaming Corp. said, “We’re thrilled to expand our brand of casino entertainment to the Florida market. We believe the combination of our location and the first-class gaming facilities will make our destination a top choice for locals and tourists alike.” Dania Jai Alai is only one of four locations that have gotten approval within Broward to offer slot machine gambling.
