Broward Slots a MessJudge Leroy Moe has finally helped out the never ending mess of the Broward slot machines. The judge originally approved the bringing in of the Vegas style slot machines back in June, even though there had been no defining of how they would be regulated. Then that decision was placed on the side when it was then appealed by the state’s attorney. Meanwhile, the pari-mutuals are trying to decide whether they can move forward with the things they have to be doing to get ready for the influx of these slot machines. Many of the slot machine owners are waiting on bringing in the actual machines, but are still moving forward in their attempts to regulate on a local level. They are meeting with local county commissioners to come up with a set of rules and regulations as to how they will work - hours of operation, number of slot machines per facility, etc. The upgrades and renovations are going to have to wait for the time being, until they see what will become of the rules of the court. Meanwhile, Judge Moe ruled that even if the issue is slowly winding its way through the courts, that there is no reason why the pari-mutuals can’t move forward with their plans to bring in the slot machines. The attorney for the pari-mutuals said that if they don’t come up with a plan by December 1st, that the facilities are moving forward to get slot machines in Broward - even if it is with no rules at all.
