Caesars Indiana PayoutEveryone is talking about the $487,000 that the Caesars Indiana Casino paid out over two days - and didn’t mean to. The company had some errors within the programming of the slot machine and didn’t catch it. The slot machine paid out 10x what they were supposed to for each person playing the machine. The casino didn’t even catch the error; it was a Good Samaritan patron who turned the machine in. Before that, each customer, whether they were aware of it or not, cleaned the machine out. How could this have happened? Well several things were going on - one, the machine was supposed to be checked and run before it ever went out on the floor for the patrons to use. They didn’t - they said they were trying to save time and sent it out without the preliminary tests that are required for the machine to get approval onto the floor. Also, now that all the machines use the ticket technology, the slot machines are no longer ringing with the sound of coins falling. If the machine still paid out money, the constant clanging of coins would have brought it to someone’s attention. The machine just kept printing out tickets, and people cashed them in. You end up with the mistake on the casinos part, and the patrons who were willing to take something for nothing - combine the two and you have a $487,000 disaster.
