Lincoln Park Expanding

Lincoln Park has decided to do a major renovation and expansion, hoping to compete with the Connecticut casinos. The new 2,100 seat sports and entertainment area, including restaurants, bars and a large gambling space is expected to compete directly with the Connecticut circuit. The upgrades will help dramatically, especially in the delivery department. They have added on a loading area that will enable the casino to bring items in the back door, instead of wheeling them past the slot machine players. This will add a lot to the ambience of the casino.

Not only that, but they will have their own power plant as well. No matter what happens to the rest of the state, the slot machines will be running no matter what! The track brings in almost $1 million a day in slot machine revenues, so it makes sense that they would protect their interest by protecting their power source. It is important to the owners, as well as the state, that Lincoln Park stay open. It is not only responsible for keeping money in its owners’ pockets, but also in the state’s coffer as well. The state gets 60.5% of the slot machine revenue, which came out to roughly $205.4 million.

The rest of the state is keeping its eyes on the November ballot that if passed would allow a casino in West Warwick – but that doesn’t faze the owners, BLB investors at all. Gambling is the third largest and fastest growing source of revenue for the state. It’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
