Oklahoma Indian Gaming Trade ShowEach year the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Trade Show offers lots of means of gambling. It is one of the nation’s biggest shows and it has really grown over the past five years into something much more than what it was originally. This year it will end up with over 2,000 attendees and give the local economy a boost in the area of $2 million. However, this year they have something else to talk about. This year there has been a small change in the gambling machines, changing from basically a Class II to a Class III type of slot machine. These Class III machines are undistinguishable from the Vegas machines that are found in many Nevada casinos. The casinos and the distributors of the slot machines see this as the future of gaming, and feel that everyone else should see it as well. However, the government has something else to say about it. They say that they need to be careful of the type of slot machine, as many of the Vegas types are illegal in Oklahoma. They are currently working on new Class II regulations that will make those machines illegal. As they have not released or come to an agreement on the regulations they are holding back the slot machine owners from moving on with their plans for revenue. The state has already lost money that they had planned on making, only making roughly $19.7 million – a big difference from the $52.8 million they had originally projected.
