Printing Company Scores Slots

International Games Technology, a Las Vegas based slot machine manufacturer, announced that they would be partnering with PAP Security Printing of Lancaster, Pa. This is a huge coup for the company as IGT is the largest slot machine maker in the United States. They will most likely supply many of the new 61,000 slot machines that Pennsylvanians have just voted to be allowed to come into their state. The new PA law states that slot machines cannot be purchased directly from the manufacturers, and that buyers must purchase the slots from a “middleman”. The government claimed it was to eliminate illegal transactions and to try and eliminate the corruption it felt was inevitable. Opponents say it is just one more way that PA has made the slot machine business more confusing, and that it is another way for the government to get their hands onto more money.

IGT controls roughly 2/3rds of all slot machine sales across the world. By teaming with PAP, they have just made the small minority-owned company the largest slot machine middleman in the state. The company, a small company, will be able to supply many more jobs to Pennsylvanians, which was one of the state’s main objectives for bringing in the slot machine middlemen to start with. They thought it would bring in more jobs, and by choosing PAP, IGT has done just that.

PAP has experience in the industry, although not specifically in slot machine distribution. They are primarily a printing company. The terms of the deal have not been released.
