Slot Machines AuctionedThe Liberty Belle Saloon may be closed, but it is definitely not forgotten. The unique slot machine parlor had one last go at gambling, while auction goers had a chance to gamble on winning a slot machine from the parlor. The auction was held in Reno, Nevada, and sold slot machines, cash registers, and all kinds of antiques. There were 600 items in total, with vintage slot machines, brass cash registers, etc. – some items were around 100 years old. The items had been previously collected by Marshall and Frank Fey. The Fey’s grandfather, Charles Fey, invested the first three reel slot machine, and called it the liberty bell – back in the 1890’s. The brothers, Marshall and Frank, opened the Liberty Belle Saloon in 1958 – where it has stood open ever since, but will now be torn down to make room for a parking lot for the Convention Center.
