Northern Winz Casino Groundbreaking

The Chippewa Cree Community Development Corporation announced their upcoming groundbreaking at Thursday’s Tribal Meeting. They have officially started construction and could not be happier. They are going to erect a fence around the area, and then all of the land will start being bulldozed and moved. Tribal Chairman John “Chance” Houle said, “We’re finally getting started. I didn’t think this day would ever come.”

Now that they have a start date, they have gone ahead and started advertising it as well. They purchased billboards that will show all the amenities that the new slot machine casino will be bringing in with it. The casino is going to be a $9 million construction, and when finished there will be about 350 slot machines - bingo, keno and poker. There will also be a sports bar, a restaurant, and a poker room. There will even be alcohol served which is a big departure from the way it has been run since the 90’s when the Baldy Butte Inn bar burnt down.

The actual start date for hotel to go along with the slot machine and gambling casino will be decided next spring. It will have 65 rooms and should cost roughly $19 million.
