Hoosier's Slot Machine Expansion Ok'dHoosier Park wants to expand their current facilities so that they can bring in the slot machines that the state of Indiana has approved for them. However, first there are several different committees and agencies that have to sign off on the slot machine expansion. They got their first approval this week, one they did not expect to see until the end of September. The Anderson Zoning Board has gone ahead and given them permission to move forward in the expansion process. This puts them one step closer to their 90,000 sq ft expansion, which will enable them to add the 2,000 slot machines that they were approved for. The expansion will make the facility a little more than twice the size of the old pari-mutual horse track, something many who have wanted the slot machines can’t wait for. The track is now on to meet with the Indiana Horse Racing Commission, who must also give approval for the expansion. With things progressing as quickly as they are, the track is hoping for a ground breaking within the next couple of weeks. They want to get the slot machines up and running as soon as possible, as their first payment of $150 million is due November 1st, with the remaining $100 million due shortly thereafter.
