Some people who like to play slot machines are curious as to how video poker works and would like to try it. Firstly, video poker and slot machines are two different beasts. Slot machines are as simple as sticking a coin in a slot and pulling a handle or pushing a button. It truly cannot get any easier. However, slot machines don’t have any skill involved with them, whereas video poker does.

Video poker and slot machines are similar in that you can play them by yourself, so if that is your goal, then well done. But video poker has an actual game that you play whereas slot machines don’t really. Video poker is also different from regular poker – no bluffing, no rakes, no cheating, etc. because it is just you and a machine.

Pick a machine that you want to try – look to see what you are interested in – standard 52 card deck, extra wild cards, etc., there are plenty of option. Choose the one you like, and then pick how much you want to bet. After that it is a simple matter of hitting deal, and you get five cards. It is very much like regular poker in that you need to know what hands are good and what ones aren’t because skill is involved.

You can hold and discard whatever cards you want, and then depending on the second draw you have either won or lost the hand. It really is like regular poker, only you have to push a button to get what you want as opposed to literally throwing cards down. It is the same game only with more options. Slot machine players will have to look into the variety of hands and how to play the actual game, but it is a game worth exploring.
