Judge Puts His Foot Down

Harry Hudspeth has ordered The law
states that you can have slot machines if they offer prizes
worth less than ten times the price of the game or $5. However,
the casino is handing out Visa cards that have money on them
which means they are paying out in cash – and that is illegal.
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott had made the stance against
the slot machines and the judge sided with him in the case.
The
judge says that this is the same issue that closed down the slot
machines and the casino at Yselta Del Sur Pueblo's Speaking Rock
casino and that they should have known better. He said that if
they do not get ride of the slot machines that are offering the
gift cards they will face a fine of $500 a day. The
casino says that they don’t feel that they have done anything
wrong with their slot machines and are conferring with their
attorney’s regarding the ruling. This tribe as well as many
others has tried for years to get the state to allow them to
bring in slot machines but
