Laurel Racing Looking for Another Chance

Laurel Racing Association wants slot machines in the worst way. The group wants to see the state start over in their quest for a slot machine developer as they say that the rules of the game have changed since they initially started them. They say that the state has shown favoritism towards a “select number” of groups that want slot machines and have shut the rest of them out.

The group tried to get the slot machine license earlier this year but their bid was thrown out. They say that the commission has been pressuring some of the developers to try for more slot machine licenses than they did earlier which changes the whole system. They say this bias towards the other applicants puts the whole process at risk and they need to scratch everything they have done so far and start over.

They argue that the state is limiting the people who are competing for the slot machine licenses and that it is in the state’s best interest to throw a larger net than what they have done. They say that if all of the potential slot machine developers had known the complete rules or that they were going to change it would have changed their complete process.

The state says that the reason that they changed the process was because they only received six applications for slot machines and so they thought that it would behoove them to change things up a bit. However, Laurel says that they have changed the rules so they should have another chance at applying for the slot machine license.
