Aqueduct Racino is Moving Forward

The state of New York might actually see slot machines at their Aqueduct Race Track some time this century. The track has been trying for years to get slot machines approved, but there is always some kind of a problem with getting them. Instead of simply being able to bring them in they have had a heck of a time with the slot machine process as they have not had a company come forth yet that everyone can agree upon. Even when it looked like they did, that company got rejected as well. This is not news for New Yorkers as they are used to the idea of slot machines being a pipe dream.

However, that has all changed now as they are bringing in the slot machines and everyone is ready for them. The company that wants to bring them in, Genting New York, has gotten approval from the State Senate and from Governor Paterson – so they are more than a little excited by the fact that the Assembly has now passed them as well. Now they have to get approval from the state comptroller and the attorney general, and if they sign off New York could actually get slot machines in their state.

A big part of the reason why the company has been so successful in getting approved for slot machines in the state is that they have been very clear about the fact that they are going to pay the state $380 million up front for the right to bring in the slot machines. This alone is a huge deal for the cash strapped state, and something that the other companies were not necessarily looking to do.
