WMS Sees
Spike in Profit
The slot
machine company WMS Industries is more than happy to announce
that their fiscal fourth quarter profit grew 18%. They said that
they had more revenue coming in and less expenses going out,
which helped them to keep a larger portion of the money that
they earned. They said that although their gross margin slipped,
they are still happy with the way that their numbers are
looking. The company is responsible for the manufacturing and
developing of slot machines, video game machines and lottery
terminals – and these are not industries that have fared well
during the economic crisis. Most of
the slot machine manufacturers, developers and distributors have
seen their profit go down substantially as people are not
playing the slot machines the way that they used to. Not only
that, but when they do play, they are playing for fewer amounts
and the penny slot machines have become very popular. Those
casinos that used to swap out their slot machines and purchase
others on a regular basis have not been financially able to do
so because of the lack of funds necessary to do that. International Game Technology said that their quarterly profit climbed 52% on their tax related gains, but they still lost more money than they wanted to. This is the way that it has been for most of the manufacturers, so for WMS to see an increase it is a very difficult thing to accomplish and they are more than thrilled to be able to announce it.
