Slot Machine License Countdown

There are several businesses vying for the last two slot machine licenses, and they spread across the state of Pennsylvania. This Monday starts the final hearing process for the slot machines licenses, as each of the groups will go before the State Gaming Board to plead their case as to why they should be the ones to get it. The locations are Allentown, Bethlehem, Mt. Airy, Pocono Manor, and Adams County.

In Allentown it is Aztar Corp that is trying to get the slot machine license, in Bethlehem it is the Las Vegas Sands. In Mt. Airy, it is a team of gaming executives headed by Paul Henderson that is seeking the slots license. Henderson is the former President and COO of Caesars Atlantic City, the AC Hilton, and the Trump Marina Hotel and Casino. Dennis Gomes in Pocono Manor is vying for the slot machine license, and in Adams County it is Millennium Gaming Inc.

Gomes was President of Aztar Corp and ran the Tropicana casinos in LV and AC – and will become the CEO of Pocono Manor should it receive the slot machine license. Millennium Gaming Inc. has partners that have previously run luxury casinos such as the Mirage, the Excalibur, and MGM, all of which were in Las Vegas. Should Adams County get the slot machine license it would shock many due to its proximity to Gettysburg – many feel it would be in bad taste to put a slot machine casino there.
