New Hampshire Looking at Legalizing Slot MachinesThere is a strong feeling around New Hampshire these days that slot machines may not be too far off from becoming legalized in the state. There are of course those groups that are for the legalization of the slot machines, they know that it would serve the state well to have additional funding. There are also those that oppose the slot machines as they warn they may bring in cash, but they will also bring in crime and social ills with it. Jim Rubens is the Executive Committee Chairman of the Granite State Coalition Against Expanded Gambling, and he knows that their group is facing the fight of their lives. "This is the toughest year yet," he said. "The pincers have grown tighter." He plans on hosting an anti-slot machine rally next month that would go along with the start date of the new legislative session. He has many groups that are willing to speak at the rally to discuss the dangers of slot machines. He already has the NH Chiefs of Police and the NH Council of Churches signed up to speak. They will be covering the legal ramifications of bringing slot machines into the state as well as the moral light that they will bring with them.
