Slot Machines Should Have Been ReturnedJR Vegas Style Games is angry at the Putnum County Sheriff’s Office for not returning the slot machines that they seized from them. Their attorney, Kelly Mathis, says that the state has brought criminal charges against the group after they were told to return the slot machines they had taken from them. Mathis says that the county brought criminal charges against the group after they lost the forfeiture hearing to permanently confiscate 50 slot machines and assets belonging to the group. She says it is merely an act of vindictiveness. “Judge (Art) Nichols said return the stuff and they would not do so,” Mathis said. “The day before the hearing to answer to the judge why they did not return (the slot machines) they filed the criminal charges, solely to cover themselves. I think it’s retaliation because we dared to challenge them.” The
sheriff and the state attorney’s office deny the allegations,
and state that they were charged because they were operating an
illegal gambling house and had possession of slot machines,
which are a third degree felony and misdemeanor respectively.
They say that the group knew better than to operate illegal slot
machines and did so anyway. Back to December Index - Slot Machines Fan |
