Addicts will have no control over their spending, and will continue to spend well past the amount that they have to lose.

There is also the issue of playing for fun. Slot machine players will play for fun, and if they lose they lose, but if they win they are pleased and excited. Addicts will play to win, and if they don’t win, they will continue to play until they have won or they have lost everything. They will become agitated if they cannot play and will act much like a drug addict who is searching for a “fix.” There are even those that will borrow and steal money to fund their habit, something not seen in simple players.
