Illinois Looking to Expand Slot Machines

Fairmont Park may be getting a large increase in slot machines if lawmakers get their way. Illinois leaders say that bringing their total to 500 slot machines offered, would make a big difference in the amount of revenue that they are bringing in, and that there is a need and desire for those extra slot machines.

They are also considering bringing in additional slot machines at the casinos located in East St. Louis and Alton. The majority of the revenue from these slot machines would go towards education and infrastructure improvements in the state, but that is not all. The communities that host these casinos would also get a bump in the amount of revenue that they are getting.

The fees of $50,000 per additional slot machine, in addition to the revenue that will be generated by them, will go a long way to fulfilling the additional expenditures that the state would like to fund. After the plan was announced, many other leaders thought that it looked like a sensible way to balance the budget while adding additional monies for their dream projects.

The plan would not only bring in additional money from those slot machines, but it would also bring in the first legal Chicago casino. When all is said and done, there would be an additional three casinos running in the state, which would bring the state total to twelve. The House Democrats are pushing for the additional slot machines and casinos, and if approved it would make a big difference in the lives of those who are located in the areas with the proposed casinos.
