Philadelphia Park Slot Machines Approved

Philadelphia Park Casino and Racetrack got approval for their slot machines and their new slot machine facility this week. The track had been waiting for their permanent approval on the slot machine facility and it finally came in.

Their approval came in just in time as the track was looking at the expiration of their temporary slot machine license on Wednesday, and saw the approval come in on Tuesday. The track has been using the temporary facility while the other one was in the planning stages, but now they are able to have construction start so that they can have their permanent one open by November of 2009.

The temp casino has been running 2,100 slot machines on the first four floors of the existing grandstand. The permanent facility will be located on another part of the property in its own stand alone slot machine facility.

The slot machines have been very productive so far for the track, and they have been able to double the amount they were offering for purses, as compared to what they were offering before. Their horsemen signed a new deal with the track as well for another seven years; while the track has agreed to spend $25 million over the next eight years improving the backstretch.
