Quiet Opening

The $60 million Three Rivers Casino & Hotel will be opening this week, but not amidst the usual fan fare and excitement that a slot machine casino usually opens with. As a matter of fact, Lane County’s newest casino will open nice and quietly and that is how they want it.

At noon on Monday, the slot machine casino will open its doors to the general public, and hope that they don’t get a huge crowd. They want to have a “soft” opening and allow their staff to get used to running the place before they get bombarded with a lot of people wanting to play the slot machines.

They say that if they had chosen to open on a weekend they would have had thousands of patrons filing in, and they just don’t feel that their employees are ready for that kind of crowd. The hotel is already booked solid, so they know that they are going to have a crowd anyway, but they are hoping to keep it under control.

They don’t really know how many will show up to play the slot machines on Monday, but they are assuming that most people will need to be at work. With 650 slot machines sitting there waiting to be played, along with table games and a poker room – the casino has a lot to offer their patrons – just hopefully not all at once.

The casino has been running out of a tent for the past three years, so they are considerably excited about having a permanent facility to put their slot machines, etc. They know that they will be successful, they just want to take their time getting there.
