Slot Machines Maybe Not Meant to Be

Kansas has been trying hard to get slot machines in, but they seem to be fighting an uphill battle. With the recent collapse of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, it would seem that Kansas may want to get rid of the idea of bringing in slot machines all together.

Wyandotte County was supposed to be the scene of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, but their developers buckled last week under the economy’s problems and have now withdrawn their state casino application. They said that they are planning on regrouping and applying again next week, but some say that perhaps there won’t be any reapplication process for them to go through.

The county has already shown what they think about The Woodlands by adopting a stance in Topeka that would keep the debate over slot machines to a minimum. Many were hoping that the Woodlands might be able to bring in a substantial number of slot machines, thus helping the state and the county at the same time.

They were supposedly afraid that if they let people start talking about the slot machine tax that they might lead to other people discussing whether or not they want slot machines at all. However, by not allowing people to talk about it, they are dooming themselves to not having any kind of gambling at all.

But some think that the slot machine issue was never solved properly. They want a new discussion regarding slot machines, and taxes, and they want to start back at the beginning to reevaluate where they are right now. Many agree that it might be the best course of action considering where they are right now.
