Baltimore
Slot Machines Negotiating
Maryland's
slot machine commission is currently reviewing a revised
proposal for an extension from the Baltimore City Entertainment
Group. The group has already submitted $3 million in licensing
fees for the five hundred slot machines that they were planning
on bringing in. However, they are now thinking that perhaps more
slot machines might be in order any some time to figure it out.
If the group chooses to bring in the proposed 3750 slot machines
that they are considering bringing in they would need to come up
with another $19.5 million in licensing fees for the state.
Obviously it is in the state's best interest to approve the
extension as not only will they get more money from the
licensing fees, but they will also get more money in terms of
revenue from the slot machines themselves.
They have asked for an extension so that they can submit a
revised proposal which would include the additional slot
machines that they want to add. They had asked to have until
next Thursday in order to submit the new proposal and the
additional money that we need to come along with such a request.
However they have now asked for more time.
According to Don Fry, chairman of the slot machine commission,
the commission will be scheduling a meeting on the proposal to
see if they will be able to approve the extension. It
is doubtful that the slot machine commission would have a
problem with giving them more time, considering the amount of
money that the state would make off of such a proposal.
