Delaware
Understands Slot Machines
Delaware
has been offering slot machine and they know how to run them.
They have been very successful in offering them to their
residents, and they have made a lot of money in the slot machine
trade. However, now the state is looking to expand their
offerings from more than just slot machines – now they want
table games. And they know just where to get the help that they
need.
Their
neighbor to the south has been through something similar – West Virginia added table games to their slot
machines. Delaware
looked to them to see how they might want to add to their slot
machines, and since they seemed to do well with the expansion,
they seemed a likely target to follow. They know that if they do
end up legalizing the table games they will have the necessary
tools to do so.
They saw how
West Virginia
set up their tax rates and their laws, and how they have worked
for them for the past two years. However, they did see that West Virginia gives some of the proceeds from
gambling to the cities and counties where the slot machines and
table games are located. There has not yet been talk as to
whether or not they are going to have that kind of a deal as
well, although they are probably considering it.
There is a
great case to look at though as far as sharing their slot
machine and table game revenues. There is a real disparity
between counties within the state, with some counties getting
more from the slot machines and table games because they do
better in their county than another one. It is worth noting that
there may be a better way to divvy up the proceeds.
