Ohio Governor Rethinking
Plan
Governor
Ted Strickland is feeling as though he could have done a few
things better these days when it comes to slot machines.
Strickland said that he felt that he had made a mistake when it
came to the slot machines, but was not sure how to help his
state without them. Strickland said that it was a difficult year
but that he will be running for re-election in the upcoming
year.
Strickland had been very opposed to slot machines and had run on
an anti slot machine ticket for election. The people of The
governor was looking at a collapsed economy and record high
unemployment numbers and said that he thought that the slot
machines might be the way for them to get out of the hole that
they were in. He sad that he reversed his stance on slot
machines based on their budget problems and the fact that he did
not want to cut education or other necessary programs within the
state. However, the Ohio Supreme Court over rode the governor’s decision and said that if he wanted slot machines the people of Ohio were going to have to vote them in. He said that without the slot machines he could not cut taxes the way that he had wanted to, and so he froze the reduction that was due for this year instead. He said those people who didn’t want slot machines are mad at him and so are the people who wanted their property cuts. One of them had to give in and as neither did, one lost and one won.
