Diamond Dust Still Operating Illegal Slot MachinesThe Diamond Dust Game Room just can’t catch a break no matter what they do. They have been trying to reopen their doors, but the state just keeps harassing them. Diamond Dust said that they are trying to abide by the letter of the law, but that the state keeps telling them that they are operating illegal slot machines which they maintain they are not. They reopened this week with a new kind of video slot machines, but the State Attorney’s Office sent them a letter informing them that they were still considered illegal slot machines and that they are to be removed from the premises. They maintain that if the slot machines are not removed, then the owner and their employees will be facing criminal charges. So now the slot machine parlor is closed again. The state of Florida is really cracking down on those that are operating slot machines claiming that they are simply amusement games – when they are fully aware that they are not. Any machine that does not take skill to operate and to win a payout is considered a slot machine. There are very few exceptions to the rule, however, those amusement type games that children play at places like Chuck E. Cheese’s to win a prize are exempt.
