Why Trump Lost Slot Machine CasinoMany were surprised when Donald Trump lost out on his bid for a slot machine casino in Philadelphia. The man whose name has become synonymous with gambling and slot machines was not one of the winners of slots license, and many were wondering why. The old adage of location, location, location, could not have been more appropriate than in this case. Trump had decided on the edge of North Philadelphia as his location for the TrumpStreet Casino, and was planning on putting $350 million into the slot machine project. However, the Pennsylvania gaming Control Board disagreed with his decision, and admitted that location was the main reason why his bid for a slot machine license was rejected. Initially, the Board did not tell Trump why he was rejected, but they recently released a 113 page document that details why each of the locations for slot machines was chosen, and why those that weren’t, weren’t. The winning projects were chosen because they would bring in business to the riverfront – where the council felt it was needed the most. The board felt that because the slot machine casino location was in an economically depressed area it might help the area grow, but it also might hurt the casino. They said they did not know if people would be willing to invest in the area, or if people would not go there to play the slot machines because they felt it was too dangerous.
