Baltimore
Mayor Supports Table Games
The
governor of Maryland has made it very
clear that he is not going to talk table games. He has said that
he thinks that slot machines have been difficult enough to get
up and running – and that as this hasn’t happened yet it is high
time that they put everything else on the back burner. He won’t
discuss table games until slot machines are open for business.
But this
does not stop others in the state from talking about them. In
fact, they are bound and determined to see how far they can get
with adding the table games to the discussion. The mayor of
Baltimore
says that the addition of table games and poker to the slot
machines is a great idea and that she supports it
wholeheartedly. She said that they would be a nice addition to
the slot machines that they are hoping to have soon. They think
that it would change it from simply a slot machine parlor to a
destination location – which will bring in a lot more money for
the state and for the city.
A state
commission has said that the addition of table games to the slot
machines could be very good indeed for them. They said that with
Pennsylvania
and New Jersey
both offering slot machines and table games, they would need to
be more competitive and offer them as well. They reported that
the amount of money that could be brought in from the table
games could be substantially more than they think, and that
between the games and the slot machines they could be looking at
millions of dollars in revenue.
They
said that if they don’t offer table games, or they wait to offer
them, that their residents will simply go across their border to
play both slot machines and table games in a location that
offers both.
