Machine Debate
The
debate rages on for slot machines in the state of
Massachusetts. There are some who feel
that bringing in slot machine casinos is a great idea, while
there are others that disagree. You find this in any state as
there are always some that are for it, and some that are not.
But bringing slot machines to the state is definitely stirring
things up.
The
group Massachusetts Partnership for Responsible Gambling is in
favor of the slot machines and they say that they have
recommendations on how they can “minimize the harm” that the
slot machines could possibly bring in. The United to Stop Slots
in Massachusetts group is
unveiling their own report that says that the money that the
state says that they are going to get from the slot machines is
“outrageous” and simply not true.
The USS
Mass anti slot machine group is holding their own press
conference to show that local aid to cities and towns will be
drained if slot machines are legalized. They say that the state
lottery will take a hit and that money has to come from
somewhere.
While
all of this is going on, House lawmakers are drafting proposals
to bring in the slot machines to racetracks, and to bring in
additional casinos as well. They say that they are more
concerned with keeping those safe that have shown they have an
addiction to slot machines, so they are adding in self exclusion
for problem gamblers at the state’s casinos.
