Alabama
Eliminates 300 Illegal Slot Machines
The
state of Alabama is serious about
its commitment to eliminate all slot machines from the state.
They have a task force that has been cracking down on all of the
illegal slot machines and either removing the slot machines from
the businesses or forcing the businesses to close down. They say
that they have one goal and that is to see Alabama illegal slot
machine free.
The
problem is that many of these machines are bingo machines. They
are simply electronic versions of the game that you played with
your grandmother. But the state maintains that it is that game
that is legal, ad that the electronic version is a slot machine.
The courts have agreed and any slot machine, or electronic bingo
machine, that is in a bar or wherever, needs to go immediately.
They are
even dedicated to ensuring that the slot machines that do come
into the state go right back out. The task force learned of 300
slot machines that had come into a warehouse in Jefferson County
from Panama
and they asked him to remove them from the state. The Alabama
State Troopers had been notified by customs agents that a large
number of these slot machines had come into the states in
Jacksonville,
FL and that they were headed their
way. They then called the task force and let them know what was
going on.
The task
force then went to the workers at the warehouse and confirmed
that the slot machines were there. They did not know where they
were being taken, but they needed them removed from the state.
The owner agreed and the troopers and the task force followed
them out of the state. That is what you call taking your job
seriously.
