Bethlehem Gets Slot Machines and Museum The residents of Bethlehem have a lot to be excited about these days – they are getting a slot machine casino and a museum. There were talks about bringing in the museum roughly nine years ago, but nothing ever happened with it – until the slot machines were picked to come to town. Now, they have a whole new reason to push for the museum. The museum would change the closed steel plant into a monument to honor the steel industry and the influence that it had on Pennsylvania. They were originally supposed to be open by the end of 1999, but there is nothing there except an empty building. However, museum officials now say that with the slot machines coming to town, they think that they will get the funding that is needed to build the museum. They think that slot machines are going to change the town, and thus people will want to get behind the museum. The museum will cost $26 million, and with an estimated five million slot machine players coming to Bethlehem a year, people will want something else to do in town besides just playing the slot machines. They think that by the time the slot machine casino is up and running the museum will be too. They expect the admission price to be under $10 a person.
