Ehrlich Hoped for More than Slot Machines With Governor Robert Ehrlich, Jr. leaving office soon, and new Governor Martin O’Malley coming in, many have been discussing the pros and cons of the Ehrlich administration – and one thing that keeps coming up is slot machines. Yes, Ehrlich had hoped that Maryland would see slot machines legalized during his term, and worked hard to make that happen – but that is not all he did – and many say he did not fail. He may not have actually seen slot machines legalized in Maryland, but Ehrlich definitely paved the way for O’Malley to legalize them. He also showed people that a two party system could work if you called people out on it. He clashed with the Democrats on legalizing the slot machines, and many felt that the Democrats didn’t legalize the slot machines because they wanted Ehrlich to fail – because he was Republican. He went
after many in the government for allowing politics to run the
show instead of people voting their hearts. Ehrlich pushed for
the legalization of slot machines, but he also pushed for
cooperation between parties, and many think that O’Malley will
see that and be able to benefit from it. He has already said
that he will be discussing the legalization of slot machines,
and if he decides to go that route and it passes, he can thank
Ehrlich for paving the way.
