Greenetrack’s Machines are Not Slot Machines With the ruling from the Alabama Supreme Court last month that many types of video gaming machines are in fact slot machines, many slot machine parlors have had to pull the plug. Birmingham Race Course had several of the slot machines, and had to close up shop when their appeal failed. However, one track is still going strong, as they say their video gaming machines are not slot machines. Greenetrack uses electronic machines for their bingo games, but they are not slot machines. They have had the machines approved by the Attorney General’s office and they have concurred that these machines are not slot machines. The A.G. Kenneth Steely said that the case in question refers to the slot machines that are sweepstakes machines, and that the ones Greenetrack have been running are not slot machines they are bingo machines. There is a state constitutional amendment that allows bingo in Greene County as well as several other locations. The machines may look like slot machines, and at first glance you may think they are slot machines, but they are a “different animal” according to Steely. The reels inside that make it look like a slot machine are just for show, they are not the real deal.
