Illegal Slot Machines May Be Legal Two years ago the Indiana Excise Police tried to crackdown on illegal slot machine gambling and failed. There are many legal slot machines at the casinos, but especially in the northeast part of the state, the amount of illegal slot machines is growing. Kentucky had joined Indiana in an attempt to rid their states of these illegal slot machines but they were unsuccessful. They were able to make many arrests and lots of fines were issued, but the slot machines still exist. Since then more than 25,000 illegal slot machines have been functioning in Indiana where the police cannot get to them. Therefore many think it is time to legalize the slot machines so that the state can get a portion of the revenue from them. Many say that the state could continue to try and ban the slot machines, but since that hasn’t worked so far what is the point. One of
the major problems is that some counties have a big problem will
the illegal slot machines and some don’t. Those that don’t have
the problem don’t want to legalize the slot machines for they
see it as simply expanding gambling, which they don’t want to
see. But for those counties that have a problem with it, they
see the legalization of the slot machines their only recourse.
