Sands’ Slot Machines Moving to Bethlehem

The Las Vegas Sands is about to get another address for their slot machines – Bethlehem, PA. In a partnership, Sands BethWorks Casino will be the only slot machine casino in Bethlehem, and in that immediate area. When PA announced that they would be giving out slot machine licenses, Sands jumped at the chance to get another spot on the map in which to do business.

The Sands is owned by Sheldon Adelson, who has slot machine casinos in Macau, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and now Bethlehem. They also just received approval to build a slot machine casino in Singapore, which makes them now on three continents.

Before they could get approval to build their slot machine casino in Bethlehem, they had to prove to the residents of Bethlehem that they would not take their beautiful city and make it into another Las Vegas. The town does not need the income desperately like so many others do that add slot machines, they wanted the income but were not willing to sacrifice their town to bring them in.

The town of Bethlehem is known as the “Christmas City” as many people visit it each year because of the name and the reference to the Bible. The town was founded by those who belong to the Moravian Church, and many of the buildings reflect that 18^th century Eastern Europe flavor.
