California’s Slot Machines

With the governor of California trying to get several slot machine proposals passed at the moment and many residents and tribes fighting against them, the state is becoming a voter’s nightmare. The problem people say is the fact that the slot machine proposals mean a whole lot more to four groups of tribes than they do financially for everyone else.

The state is pushing to have the four main tribes of the state get an increase in slot machines that seem excessive by any standard. The slot machines would essentially mean billions more for those four tribes, and very little for everyone else. The smaller tribes are concerned as they say that with the biggest tribes getting even more slot machines the smaller tribes will have an even harder time competing.

They want fair treatment, which is what many residents want as well. They say that is isn’t fair to give more to those who already have so much, while leaving those that don’t have as much to pick up their scraps. Then there are those that are not happy about an increase in slot machines at all. They say that the number of machines in the state is already excessive and that they don’t want to see any more brought in.

The smaller tribes don’t really agree with that standpoint, as they want more slot machines for themselves. However, they need the backing of the residents to keep the Propositions from being passed. Come Election Day the voters are going to have to decide, do they want to keep the big tribes from getting them all, and essentially halting the slot machine fight there, or keep them from getting them and then continuing to support or fight the smaller tribes from getting them as well.
