It used to be that all you needed for a horse race track to survive was horses. It is one of the greatest American pastimes to go to the races and place your bet over and over again to see if your horse would come in first. But then as casinos started coming in, it became difficult for the track to compete with them.

Then the first racino was built, and slot machines were now popping up all over the place. They were dedicated to bringing in slot machines in to tracks everywhere and bringing in additional income with them. The horse tracks that didn’t have slot machines as well either had to find a way to get them or they found themselves in danger of going under.

Now, the slot machines aren’t enough as people are torn between the casinos and the tracks. For those people who were originally coming because they wanted to see the horses then not much has changed. However, for those that were coming for the slot machines, as they have become more present there is more competition for the revenue. Now they need more than slot machines to stay afloat.

Instead of slot machines, or rather in addition to them, they are now looking at adding table games. Some think that if they add poker games they can compete more with the casinos and thus increase their revenue. They know that the casinos having poker tables and other various table games gives them an edge over them, and now they are looking to add similar devices to their list of offerings as well.
