Online Gambling Could Be Legal AgainWhen Congress and the President passed a law making internet gambling illegal a lot of people were hurt by it financially, namely the online gambling market. The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was passed when Republicans tied it to the Homeland Security Act, and now those Democrats who fought against it last year when they had no power are vowing to get it overturned. Many are now determined to at the very minimum make changes to it, as they see the passing of the bill to be a mistake. Some say that things like poker should not have been included in the ban as it is not a game of chance like slot machines are – that there is skill involved in the game. In fact, they liken it to a sport rather than a game. They also say that it makes no sense to keep online gambling illegal but still allow betting on horse races – they want to know what the difference is as they don’t really see one right now. They say that the law needs to be repealed as it should be an all or nothing proposition. However, those that say that internet gambling just makes it all that much easier for those with a problem to gain access to it, don’t want the act repealed. They say that by passing the law the government has put the country one step closer to prohibiting all kinds of gambling. But those that know better know that complete prohibition of all gambling will never happen.
