Smaller Slot Machine Licenses Applied ForThere are two slot machine licenses that have not yet been issued, and the deadline for applying for them was June 29th. The state previously had two applicants for the slot machine licenses, the Seven Springs Mountain Resort and the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, but both decided to withdraw their applications. The slot machine licenses would actually allow them to bring in slot machines, but they must be considered a resort. The facility must have at least 275 guest rooms, as well as recreational amenities like skiing, tennis, swimming, golf, etc. and restaurants, entertainment and conference rooms. The idea is that the resort guests or members of that resort may play the slot machines. They are not a casino where any one can come play the slot machines; they must be staying at the resort. Two resorts in the Pocono Mountains, one hotel in Pittsburgh, and the operators of the Valley Forge Convention Center have all applied for the slot machine licenses that would allow them to bring in a total of 500 slot machines. Before they can be approved they have to have a public forum so that residents can give their input as to whether or not they want them legalized in their town.
