Arenac Casino Coming Along

The new slot machine casino from the Saginaw Chippewa Indian tribe coming into Arenac County will be here before residents know it. The slot machine casino is costing the tribe $44 million to build and it is coming along nicely. The tribe is building it on the Saganing Indian property located near Standish.

This is not the first slot machine casino for the tribe, they also own the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant, and the tribe says that they will have this one up and running by the end of the year. They started it in June, so it could be somewhat of a push for them, but they are on schedule according to the tribe.

Most of it is done as far as laying the foundation; all they have to do now is the construction on the upper layer – or the building itself. It is going to look like the Saganing Community Center, and will hold more than 700 slot machines. In addition to the slot machines, they will also have electronic table games as well.

The tribe may add a hotel in the future, but for now they are only focusing on the slot machines and casino. Depending on how business goes with the current slot machine casino, will determine if they add on or not. For now they are adding 300 new jobs to the area, and if all goes well they will be able to hire more in the future.
